Why now: a CEO note on the Malawi–UK commercial moment
8 September 2026
For years the commercial relationship between Malawi and the United Kingdom has been warmer than it has been organised. Trade happens. Investment happens. Too often it happens without a dedicated, trusted broker in both capitals.
That is why we are establishing a permanent office in Lilongwe and why we have invested in Boards, a Secretariat and sector leads on both sides of the corridor. A Chamber that only exists in London cannot claim to be bilateral. A Chamber that only convenes in Lilongwe cannot reach UK capital, buyers and professional services.
The timing is not accidental. Malawi’s policy direction — including export and investment priorities under Vision 2063 — meets a UK market that still wants African produce, minerals, tourism and talent, and that offers duty-free, quota-free access under the Developing Countries Trading Scheme. Honorary patronage from the British High Commissioner to Malawi underlines official confidence in this work.
Our job is practical. Introductions, market intelligence, events that lead to meetings, and a membership that is worth the invoice. If you have been waiting for a serious vehicle for Malawi–UK business, this is the moment to join.
